It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to photograph a brand new baby and I’m not sure there’s anything sweeter than witnessing the love that a new little family shares during this amazing time. I had so much fun capturing Georgia and McCall’s one-year birthday photos. They aren’t yet walking, but as soon as they hit the ground they were ready to go in two different directions, so I had my work cut out for me! Nonetheless, it was so sweet to see them experience the lake for the first time– and their little bathing caps were to die for! Happy birthday, sweet girls!

Me and Mine

Last year truly was the best year of my life. I became a mama to my sweet Lucy last January and I can’t believe how fast this roller coaster called life is moving. I feel so blessed to have my own little family, and even more blessed that I have such amazing friends, many of whom I met through photography. For the past 3 years I have captured so many families with my camera, so I can’t tell you how excited (and nervous!) I was to have my friend and fellow photographer, Ginger Unzueta, suggest that we do a swap and snap each other’s family photos for our Christmas cards. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to share them here on the blog, but since Ginger and I have also decided to get together each month for more mommy + me photo dates, I thought I’d kick off our first month with our first official (and totally awesome, if I do say so myself!) Wharem family photo, along with a few more of my favorites that I will treasure forever. Thank you so much for this awesome gift, Ginger!

One of the things that I treasure most from my childhood is that I got to grow up right next door to five of my cousins. We have all always been close, spending weekends and holidays going from one house to the other, hanging by the pool, playing cards or board games, and just making fun of each other and laughing around the kitchen table. So this year when my cousin Laura was home for the holidays (she lives in L.A. now and works for a big-wig movie production company!), I grabbed at the chance to play with my camera now that I had a model who was up for some fun. And when I say fun I mean re-purposing an old bridesmaids dress (from my wedding, no less) and hanging out in a bathtub. Thanks, La! Love you!!

My friend and co-worker, Sheila, asked me to take a few photos for her while her daughter was visiting from out of town over the holidays, and I was more than happy to now that my schedule has slowed down a bit. I’ve been so busy the last few weeks, but my calendar is finally opening up and I plan on taking some time off to enjoy the holidays. It’s nice to be wrapping up my family sessions with some of my dearest friends and their growing boys.
